The use of punctuation here, eg Dear Mr Smith, and Yours sincerely, seems to be classed now as wrong - although I still use it myself. It seems though, that in electronic communications any ending will do. So...If it seems presumptuous to you, think of it as "Thanks for considering my request." Or if George is your boss, "Thanks for handling this."
